UNPAC is a non-profit organization that educates and empowers women for economic equality. We support women’s skill building to increase their success in community and workplace leadership. We follow a popular education model that is interactive and participant centered.
Pathmakers is designed for rural women who are active in community-building work and/or leaders in their communities or workplaces. Our goals are to enhance the existing skills women have through mentorship, specific skill-building, and developing strategies to achieve particular goals. The sessions will be held in three rural locations: Pembina Valley, Eastern, and Western Manitoba.
Our first program begins on January 12, in partnership with the Regional Alternative Education Centre (Altona). There will be nine sessions over the course of 6 months. Meetings are once every 3 weeks on Thursdays from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. We will focus on practical skills, building our meetings around your learning goals. We will identify & share skills, learn to mentor & support one another, & grow our networks. The first three sessions provide opportunities to broaden our skills in Conflict Management, Communication and Leadership, and Meeting Facilitation. Participants will collaborate in the development of topics for the final 3 sessions.
The application asks you to identify a goal or task to work toward during the program. You will develop a skill base and action plan to support the achievement of that goal. We will work in smaller mentorship groups as part of each session to share skills and knowledge, and to begin growing our networks. We are able to advocate with employers, or provide you with the tools to do so, to include Pathmakers as workplace professional development.
Training is FREE. Childcare & meals will be provided; some support for travel costs is available. |
