Alternative federal budgets are a powerful tool that citizens can use to influence the flow of money within a country. Women across the world are especially active in this process creating "Women's" and "gender budgets" that ensure that women benefit from a fair share of federal funds and that money is allocated towards the most vulnerable people in society. For example, women's budgets tend to emphasize spending on social services, health, and education rather than tax cuts and militarism.
